Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us at barktrek@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You don't have to be home when we come to get your dog. Once your dog has been approved to become a Cadet or join our Crew, we'll work with you to find the most practical pick-up and drop-off that has the least impact on both of our routines.

We ask you to consider your dog having a strong, reliable recall in most of the following scenarios:

  • Your dog is having a lot of fun playing with another dog
  • Your dog encounters a person riding a horse
  • Your dog hears or sees other dogs or livestock
  • Your dog  is being called by someone other than you
  • Your dog sees an unfamiliar person or dog

Some dogs are dog-reactive because they simply don't feel safe around other dogs.

Our Bark Trek philosophy on teamwork is that dogs on our hikes feel that every dog on their crew is a friend, and that in the case of misunderstandings, their hiker is capable of still keeping everyone safe. Our Bark Trek Cadets and Crew require your applicant be friendly or hold a mellow, indifferent disposition to other dogs. During hikes, we work to the best of our ability to build your dog's social skills from friendly to friendly and polite to strengthen the feeling of security in the pack. Our program is not for social rehabilitation or behavior modification. We ask that you respect and take into consideration the safety of other people's fur babies when considering  Bark Trek as an option.

We don't like to disappoint, but Play Care is a special and temporary service that we are currently offering for the dogs closest to our own private Stanwood location.
