Weekly day camps, held Mondays.
Quarters are ten (10) consecutive Mondays.
Playing and training, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Pick up and drop off occur before and after the duration of Cadet Camp.
Our Bark Trek Camps are limited to eight dogs a day to give them each adequate time for individual training and enrichment sessions.
Your dog's tuition covers the entire quarter, or the entire year (three quarters).
We come to your home to pick up your Cadet in our van equipped with crash tested, rotomolded kennels (from Ruffland Kennels) so your that your dog can be safely individually crated on the way to and from your home, our yard, and field trip locations.
At Bark Trek we're dedicated to force-free, errorless training methods as well as a unique approach to positive play facilitation.
Over the quarter your dog will work on beginner and advanced obedience behaviors, strengthen their off-leash recall, and translate these skills to public areas on their weekly field trips.
Skills include but are not limited to:
Sit, down, stay (duration and distance)
Paws up, off, place, door/gate manners
Loose leash walking, heel, recall
"Doing nothing" / frustration skills
Field trip locations vary.
Leash reactive dogs are welcome.
Not only will your dog get to practice their obedience skills off the leash and on, they'll also learn invaluable skills through playing with their friends at the Playcare Yard, our private fenced in acre of forest for "faux hiking," zoomies, and decompression.
These playtimes not only serve as a great outlet for physical activity, but serve as a training opportunity for your dog to gain better canine communication and let off some steam before we use their brains.
Your dog's graduation day of Cadet Camp includes a group Bark Trek, or an off-leash hike equipped with GPS collars at a real hiking location!
Cadets each get a take-home folder at the start of their program, equipped with helpful information about the program, valuable information about effective training, and progress trackers.
Throughout the program, report cards and training concept handouts will be sent home each week your Cadet goes to Camp.
Your Cadet Camp's take-home folder won't only illustrate what we worked on that day at Camp, but also provides details on how to replicate the training at home.
Each quarter tuition also includes a 45-min one-on-one private training session in your home to be booked towards the end or following your dog's quarter.
SEPTEMBER THROUGH DECEMBER.
Unique Field Trip: Pumpkin Patch!
Your dog will get to enjoy running on crunchy leaves in the morning during playtime and all the classic Cadet Camp field trip destinations in the afternoon, such as Cabela's, the beach, the Outlets, department stores and many more.
JANUARY THROUGH MARCH.
Unique Field Trip: Santa Photos!
It might be cold outside, but we'll still take your Cadet out for playtime in the chilly weather, rain or shine. Field trips may include more outdoor locations than other quarters due to messy dogs, such beach days, public parks, Centennial Trail, and local neighborhoods.
MARCH THROUGH MAY.
Unique Field Trip: Tulip Town!
The Playcare yard is green and luscious come spring time, the hardware stores are full of lively plants, and there are more people to train around as we creep out of Washington's dark and wet season. It's a fun time to be a Cadet!
Before you sign up for Cadet Camp or purchase your pass, you need to completely fill out your pup's enrollment form. This form is easy to fill out using your browser on a computer. You can also print, fill out, and scan the filed out document. Once you've filled out the enrollment form, email it to us at barktrek@gmail.com or use the contact form at the bottom of the page.
Upon evaluation, we'll let you know if your dog is a good fit for the Cadet Camp program. Your dog must be used to spending time quietly in a crate, do well in the car, enjoy time around other dogs, and have no history for food aggression around other dogs, as well as be up to date on required vaccines and have a negative fecal test for parasites and giardia.
Once the enrollment form is reviewed, we will book a meet and greet/interview to begin your dog's Cadet Camp journey before their first day of the quarter.
